119 rapid build public and affordable housing units for Ballyogan
Sinn Féin councillor for Glencullen Sandyford Chris Curran has welcomed Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council"s plans to develop 119 rapid build housing units at the Ballyogan Wood Luas stop.
The site is known locally as the old racecourse one mile straight and will be located at the rear of Ballyogan Court.
The development is expected to happen in two phases and detailed drawing are being prepared. The development is expected to include both social and affordable units, but the affordable aspect is dependent on the national legislation being in place.
Speaking today Curran said;
"I welcome this development and I am calling on the government to expedite the affordable housing scheme to allow people to buy the proportion of the affordable units.
“As yet, it is not known if the public housing aspect will be managed by the council or an approved housing body but I welcome the urgency being shown by the council.
“I am also calling for the council to arrange a meeting with local residents to deal with any issues they may have such as traffic and estate management.”
