McCallion urges big turn-out for anti-Brexit demos

28 March, 2019 - by Elisha McCallion

Sinn Féin MP Elisha McCallion has urged people to attend a series of anti-Brexit protests that are taking place along the border corridor this weekend.

The Foyle MP said: “As the Brexit chaos at Westminster continues, so does the threat to re-impose a hard border in Ireland. This would be devastating to the economy, industry and jobs, to farming, to the free movement of people crossing the border every day to work, study or trade.

“Communities on both side of the border remain deeply concerned about their futures and Border Communites against Brexit have organised a series of demonstrations for this Saturday 30th March at 3pm.

“This will be a significant and major people's demonstration against Brexit and a hard border. It will take place at various points along the border and Sinn Féin are urging as many people as possible to come out and support these events.”The mobilisations will take place at the following points:Old Dublin Road, CarrickcarnonBelcoo-BlacklionAghalaneMoybridge, AughnacloyLifford BridgeBridgend.
