Hazzard calls for removal of parachute regiment flags in Ballynahinch
Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has called for controversial British army parachute regiment flags erected in Ballynahinch to be taken down.
The South Down MP said:
"The appearance of controversial parachute regiment flags in Ballynahinch in recent days has caused considerable concern among locals and visitors to the town.
"This is a busy town centre and the erection of these flags is clearly designed to cause offence, particularly to the families of those killed on Bloody Sunday.
"This follows on from paramilitary flags being put up in the town last year which were an attempt to intimidate the local community.
"I am calling on those responsible for putting up these flags to take them down as a matter of urgency."
