Archibald encourages people to vote Sinn Féin on Thursday

30 April, 2019 - by Caoimhe Archibald

Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald encourages people to vote for strong, passionate, able republican representatives on May 2nd.

The East Derry MLA said:

"Over the past five years the Sinn Féin team on Causeway Coast and Glens council has made a difference: investing in public services and community facilities, ensuring a fair deal for ratepayers, and effectively representing communities.

"On May 2nd you have the opportunity to elect a strengthened Sinn Féin team of strong, passionate, able republican representatives across Causeway Coast and Glens.

"Representatives who will stand up for equality, and ensure that all cultures and identities are respected, embraced and celebrated.

"Representatives who will defend the rights of all the people who call this island home.

"Representatives who will ensure accountability and transparency at the heart of local government to deliver on first class public services.

"The election on May 2nd comes at a pivotal time in our political process.

"The combination of Brexit and savage austerity cuts pose a grave threat to public services and our wider economy.

"Both have been forced upon us by a British Government which refuses to recognise the majority opposition to Brexit here.

"This government, reliant on the DUP, continues to stand over a shocking denial of rights that would not be tolerated anywhere else on these islands.

"A strengthened Sinn Féin vote is the best way of combating this destructive agenda.

"Sinn Féin is clear there can be no hardening of the border or undermining of the Good Friday Agreement, we have brought this message to the heart of Europe in a sustained and determined effort to ensure the interests of Ireland are protected.

"We are equally determined to end the DUP’s denial of rights.

"We are adamant that there can be no place for arrogance, sectarianism, homophobia and racism in any of our political institutions, and that includes council chambers.

"Our island is changing, it is clear that partition has failed and a new future is emerging.

"We want it to be a future of unity and prosperity for all. A new Ireland based on equal treatment and rights for all citizens.

"Sinn Féin councillors will be key to shaping and delivering a new Ireland at a local level.

"So on May 2nd vote for your local Sinn Féin candidates and follow the vote management as advised for your area.

"Vote for equality, rights and Irish unity."
