Increasing frustration among neurology recall patients - Sheehan
Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has said there is increasing frustration among patients affected by the neurology recall.
The Sinn Féin health spokesperson said:
"There has been some speculation about the status of Dr Watt, and if this recent development of his retirement had a bearing on the latest delay in publishing the recall review.
“I have spoken to patients affected and their families and carers and it is clear there is increasing frustration about being the last to find out anything. This is simply not good enough.
"The handling of the recall and review has raised serious questions about how this was allowed to happen and the ability of the authorities to respond to criticism and provide answers.
“The news that Dr Watt is to retire on medical grounds will continue to add to concerns of those thousands involved.
“The Department needs to provide as a matter of urgency an update on the outcomes report into the recall.”
