She said:

“I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Norah Gibbons, who passed away yesterday.

“Norah was completely committed to the betterment of the lives of children and to bring past injustices to light.

“Her work as Tusla Chairperson, with Barnardos, as a member of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse and as a member of the Historical Abuse Inquiry in the north has left an incredible and lasting legacy.

“I send my deepest sympathies to Norah’s husband Seán, her children, her wider family and to her friends.
