Ennis praises efforts of those who brought Kilkeel fire under control

Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has praised the efforts of those who brought a large shed fire in Kilkeel last night under control.

The South Down MLA said:

“I commend the efforts of the Fire Service who brought a large shed fire at Carrigenagh Road under control and stopped it spreading to further sheds.

“Between 1,500 and 2,000 pigs were burned in the fire with one man suffering minor injuries but this could have been much more serious.

“This fire has shocked the local community and is a big blow to the owner of the farm and to the people employed there.

“I have no doubt the local community will be in full support of the farm’s efforts to rebuild.”
