‘Put money back into pockets of farmers’ – McAleer

Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer has launched a bill to support farmers in disadvantaged areas.

The West Tyrone MLA said:

“Sinn Féin’s bill will support hill farmers and those on the most disadvantaged land who face higher costs.

“This bill is about putting money back into the pockets of our hard-pressed farmers.

“It’s about supporting farmers in areas of natural constraint and putting equality back into supporting our farmers.

“Currently, we have no scheme to support farmers in disadvantaged areas and we need to see this support restored just like Scotland and the south of Ireland.

“I would urge people to get behind this bill and help support our hill farmers by filling in the consultation and helping to shape this legislation.”
