Sinn Féin Assembly team engage with Equality Commission
Sinn Féin Assembly members are today meeting with the Equality Commission at Stormont to discuss the response to Equality issues across three key areas - Health, the Review of Public Administration and Education.
Speaking from Stormont Sinn Féin Human Rights and Equality Spokesperson, Caitriona Ruane MLA said:
"Across these three key areas of Health, the RPA and Education there are very serious concerns about the failure to deliver services and implement policy based on equality.
"Sinn Fein welcome the of Equality Commission work of in relation to many of these issues and urge them to ensure that, collectively, the fight for equality is taken to direct rule ministers and senior civil servants who are taking the decisions and setting an agenda that bypasses the legal requirements that exist to ensure equality.
"Sinn Fein is determined to ensure that equality is the key benchmark against which all public services are delivered, in how investment is delivered and in the new structures that arise from the review of public administration." ENDS
