Sheehan welcomes green light for Irish assembly translation

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has welcomed the green light for Irish and Ulster Scots translation of Assembly business.

The West Belfast MLA said:

“I’m delighted that a proposal to introduce an Irish language and Ulster Scots translation service for Assembly business has been given the go ahead.

“This will not only help those who use the Irish language and Ulster Scots on a daily basis in a very practical way, it is also an important signal of respect for language and identity.

“It is also a key outworking of a commitment made in the New Decade, New Approach agreement.

“We now the delivery of Acht Gaeilge as a matter or urgency. The British government have committed to doing it and there must be no more delays.”
