Sinn Féin brings political policing campaign to PSNI headquarters
Sinn Féin activists have today held a protest outside PSNI Headquarters in Knock, South Belfast as part of their "End Political Policing" campaign.
Speaking after the protest Michael Fereguson MLA said:
"Today's protest is part of a series of initiatives across the Six Counties in recent months designed to highlight the concept of political policing in the North. Those who believe that political policing ended with the RUC and the introduction of the PSNI are deeply mistaken.
"Over this past number of months we have witnessed politically motivated arrests, particularly of Sinn Féin MLA Francie Brolly, high profile and heavy handed raids and a continuation of partisan political policing and justice, under British securocrats who are not democratically accountable.
"Sinn Féin is about challenging and changing the culture of policing in the Six Counties. This campaign has been hugely successfully in continuing to expose the political agenda of those who want to prevent root and branch changes in policing and wider political progress." ENDS
