Sinn Fein to attend roundtable on Bill of Rights
A Sinn Fein delegation including party General Secretary Mitchel McLaughlin and Assembly members Caitriona Ruane and Michelle Gildernew will tomorrow attend the first meeting of the roundtable on formulating a Bill of Rights.
Speaking today Ms Ruane said:
"It is unacceptable that so little progress has been made over the past eight years on formulating a Bill of Rights which is a core element of the Good Friday Agreement.
"At the recent talks at St. Andrews we made it clear that the roundtable needed to be brought together and work quickly started.
"I welcome the fact that the British government have now acted on this matter and it is now vital that an independent chairperson and a funded secretariat is put in place to allow this important job of work to be completed." ENDS
