Minister must urgently address postal problems in Dublin South Central – Ó Snodaigh
Dublin South Central Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh has called on the Minister for Social and Family Affairs Séamus Brennan to address a problem with An Post in Dublin which has resulted in delays of up to ten days in the receipt of social welfare cheques in much of Dublin 10 and Dublin 20.
Speaking in the Dáil today Deputy Ó Snodaigh said, "The Department of Social Welfare has failed to ensure that recipients of social welfare cheques receive them through the post in a timely fashion. Since January much of Dublin 10 and 20 have endured delays of up to 10 days from date of issue.
"This has caused much hardship for individuals and families who are totally dependent on these payments to manage their household budget.
"I am calling on the Minister to address this matter with the utmost urgency, to investigate the cause of the delays and to implement measures to ensure this doesn't happen again." ENDS
