Karen Mullan



Karen has been a political and community activist in Derry for a number of years. Working in community and voluntary sector in the Waterside and across the city and district, Karen has made a significant contribution to community development and establishing projects and festivals in the Top of the Hill and Irish Street area.

Karen is a graduate from Ulster University with a degree in Community Development. She lives in the Creggan area of the city and is married to Charles with 2 children.

Karen played a key role in setting up the Pink Ladies cancer charity and was instrumental in lobbying for the delivery of the North West Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin Hospital.

Karen is a strong advocate for workers' rights, this is exercised in her membership of SIPTU, the community and voluntary trade union.

Karen was selected to replace Elisha McCallion in the Assembly in 2017 following her election as MP for Foyle.
