Matt Carthy lives in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan with his wife Lynn and their five children. Matt has been a Sinn Féin MEP for the Midlands Northwest Constituency since 2014, having previously been a member of Monaghan County Council, and Carrickmacross Town Council. He is a member of the European Parliaments’ Agriculture & Rural Affairs and Economic & Monetary Affairs Committees.

Matt is fighting for:

  • Jobs, infrastructure and services for rural Ireland
  • A radically reformed EU that works for the people
  • Supports for families in mortgage distress
  • Measures for banks & corporations to pay their share of taxes
  • Giving ordinary working people a break by addressing the cost of living crisis and improving wages
  • A fair deal for Irish family farmers
  • A United Ireland

  • Brexit and any hardening of the border in Ireland
  • The further transfer of powers to Brussels
  • More stealth taxes on Irish families
  • Cuts to local services
  • Dangerous EU trade deals
  • The creation of an EU army
