Archibald calls for dialogue to prevent university strike action

Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has called on universities to engage in meaningful dialogue to bring about a resolution to prevent strike action.

The Sinn Féin further and higher education spokesperson was speaking after the Universities and College Union (UCU) announced strike action over the Universities Superannuation Scheme and pay and conditions.

Caoimhe Archibald said:

“Today the UCU announced that 60 universities including Queen’s University, Ulster Ulster and Open University would commence eight days of strike action on the 25th November.

“Meaningful negotiation is necessary to find a resolution to the dispute which is satisfactory to all involved.”
