Tackling holiday hunger bill gets green light from Speaker – Mullan

Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan has welcomed the decision to approve a Bill on tackling holiday hunger.

The Foyle MLA said:

“I am delighted that An Ceann Comhairle has approved my proposal to bring a Bill to the Assembly on tackling holiday hunger.

“This is an issue that I feel very passionate about and have been working on for many years.

“Children and families who receive free school meals need certainty. That is why progressing this legislation is key to tackling the issue for once and for all.

“Around 100,000 children rely on this support and I want to make sure that it is maintained right throughout the year, not just during school terms.

“I would urge other parties to get behind this Bill to ensure that children and their families are supported.”
