Boylan welcomes progress on support for transport

Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan has welcomed news that the transport industry is finally set to see support put in place following the difficult period during Covid19.

The Newry/Armagh MLA said:

“I welcome the announcement that the Infrastructure Minister will take the lead in developing proposals to support transport.

“It is regrettable that progress has taken so long given that the Infrastructure and the Economy ministers have been playing ping-pong on this vital issue.

“Transport, including private coaches, taxis and hauliers have been hit hard throughout this pandemic with many having been unable to access support schemes.

“Now we need to finally see movement for this sector that has been left in the dark during for far too long. They need support.”
