Sinn Féin welcomes the decision by an Garda Síochána to invite submissions for the first time to its up-coming Garda Policing Plan 2008. As a political party representing 323,983 voters we welcome the opportunity to participate in the plan’s development.
It is essential that the state level Policing Plan 2008 strikes the right balance between the various competing priorities. This is particularly important given that the annual Divisional and District plans will rely heavily on it as a template. We hope that our views, which have been informed by ongoing and active engagement with communities, will contribute positively to the development of a sound policing plan for 2008.
