Originally from Dromone, Oldcastle, Johnny lives with his wife Mary and four teenage children Gráinne, Emer, Seán and Roisín in Moylough.
As well as being an active local councillor, he has worked in construction for many years, in Ireland and the US after having to emigrate in his 20s to find work.
A lifelong GAA supporter, he was a founding member of the Aidan McAnespie GAA club in Boston and has also managed local GAA teams.
He is involved in many local community activities, including a walk which has raised over €750,000 for cancer charities.
A proud republican and a united Irelander, he will work hard and stand up for Meath West in the Dáil.
